Triumph is hoping to lure new riders to the world of two wheels with its new ‘Ticket to Ride’ offer. Anyone who has passed their motorcycle test within the last 12 months can claim £500 off the price of a Trident 660 or the closely related Tiger Sport 660.

For anyone yet to take the plunge, there’s also a prize draw, the winner of which will bag up to £1,000 towards getting their license, including CBT costs, Module 1 and Module 2 test fees and training. The only thing not included is the cost of a theory test, but hey, that’ll only set you back £23 currently.

The entry page for the prize draw is here, where there’s also more information about the offer and all the boring small print. The closing date for the competition is 23:59 (GMT) on 22 January 2023.

Either bike would work nicely for a first foray into motorcycling. Each is built around the same all-new tubular steel frame and powered by a fruity-sounding 660cc three-cylinder engine producing 80bhp at 10,250rpm and 47lb ft of torque at 6,250rpm. In other words, not enough to be intimidating, but plenty of power for when you’re a little more experienced.

The naked Trident 660 clothes that frame in lovely neo-retro bodywork, while the Tiger Sport 660 takes on more of an adventure bike look with a half fairing and an adjustable windscreen. Each machine uses Showa suspension, but the Tiger features much more travel and a more upright riding position.

Also shared across both bikes is a neat, round display that combines an LCD upper section with a colour TFT lower.
