KTM has announced an expansion of its electric balance bike range, with the new 2023 KTM SX-E roster. There are also equivalents of the most powerful bike in the range from Husqvarna and GasGas.
The 2023 KTM SX-E electric balance bike range offers more choice than in the past year, with three different models to choose from, and Husqvarna and GasGas variants of the most powerful 1.20 model. All of the 2023 electric balance bikes from KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas are intended for use strictly on private land.
KTM SX-E 1.12
The 2023 KTM SX-E 1.12 is the entry-level option among the Austrian brand’s new balance bike range, weighing 7.7kg with 12-inch composite wheels, pneumatic tyres, a 330mm seat height and 30-60 minutes of riding time from the 20V 2Ah lithium-ion battery.
There are also three riding modes available on the 1.12, with the lowest allowing a top speed of 8kph (5mph) and the highest pushing that up to 14kph (8.7mph).

KTM SX-E 1.16
The 2023 KTM SX-E 1.16 is the middle-of-the-road option, a step up from the 1.12. The weight goes up from 7.7kg to 9kg, and is suitable for riders weighing up to 35kg.
The battery is a removable 20V 4Ah lithium-ion unit, and again there are three modes available with the highest setting taking the bike up to a top speed of 20kph (12.4mph).
As for the weight and the battery, the wheels are slightly bigger on the 1.16 compared to the 1.12, up to 16 inches, and the seat height is raised to 431mm.

KTM SX-E/Husqvarna EE/GasGas MC-E 1.20
The final bike in the new 2023 electric balance bike range from KTM is the SX-E 1.20 which, as you probably gathered by now from the range’s nomenclature, has 20-inch wheels. It is also available as a Husqvarna EE 1.20 and a GasGas MC-E 1.20.
It also features a 36V brushless motor, and three power modes, the lowest limiting the top speed to 16kph (9.9mph), and the highest allowing it to reach 32kph (19.9mph).
The bike also comes with Manitou J-Unit front forks given 80mm of wheel travel, Innova tyres, Hayes Dominion A2 disc brakes (60mm front, 140mm rear), and a weight of 15kg (suitable for riders up to 52kg).
KTM does not give the battery specifications for the 1.20’s unit, but does mention that the three-hour charge time will give a riding time of between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the power mode used.
